Evaluating Sara Bareilles

Lowest note: C3
Highest belt:  G5
Highest note: C6
Exclamation: N/A
Vocal range: 3 octaves
Vocal Grade: A

Vocal positives:
She belts out notes as high as Eb5 without wavering in pitch for an extended period of time. Her melismas are not overused and even though her strongest range, which is from F3 to Eb5, is where she finds home - her low notes at C#3 are used with good technique, and also pretty dark and well supported throughout the rest of her lower register. She possesses exceptional vibrato which allows her to go as high as G5 with little difficulty.

Vocal negatives:
There is nothing about her voice that makes me scream, 'Wow! I totally want to put her on the A* vocal grade' or something like that. Her voice is powerful and weighty, but everything else about her voice is either good or okay. Her voice above G5 becomes very uncontrolled, forced, and shrill at points, sometimes even nasal. Also, she has a somewhat unique timbre that is way too obvious to ignore.

Highest note: B5

Vocal positives:
Healthy lows and sweet head voice, she has the ability to belt out notes as high as E5 without much difficulty. She also has the ability to hold notes as high as F5 for extended periods of time without feeling tired.

Vocal negatives:
Her belts at E5 are slightly weaker than the rest of her belts and can be perceived as shouting. Her notes above B5 can be interpreted as shrill and irritating to some people. Her exclamation at E6 is barely audible.

Evaluating Lana Del Ray

Lowest note: B2
Highest belt:  E5
Highest note: C#6
Exclamation: Eb6
Vocal range: 3 octaves 1 note
Vocal grade: A

Vocal positives:
She has a unique way of phrasing her songs which makes her voice 'trademarked' and instantly recognisable. She is used to singing dark songs like Summertime Sadness. Her low notes are her most comfortable part of her range, allowing her to reach low notes like C3 with ease and with proper technique as well. The low notes are well supported and dark.

Although her belting range is weak (A4-E5), she chooses to use her head voice and thus her voice in this range comes out as airy even though they can be solidified.

Vocal negatives:
Her voice when heard live sounds a little bit off-key at points

Evaluating Ellie Goulding

Lowest note: A2
Highest belt:  F5
Highest note: E6
Exclamation: N/A
Vocal range: 3 octaves 4 notes
Vocal grade: B

Vocal positives:
Ellie possesses a unique voice. Her head voice is her best feature. Her belting department is relatively full and strong(C5-F5) and they demonstrate remarkable resonance. Her low notes(C#3-F#3) are especially dark and thick, although still the weakest part of the range. She has the ability to allow her voice to carry a sweet and wispy timbre throughout all the register, thus making her voice recognisable.

Vocal negatives:
Her timbre sounds like it belongs to a child. Her voice, when belting can sound nasal and weaker from C#5 onwards. Her stamina live is very limited as she often sounds out of breath even without dancing.

Evaluating Bruno Mars

Lowest note: Bb2
Highest belt:  F5
Highest note: A5
Exclamation: B5/C6
Vocal range: 2 octaves 6 notes 1 semitone
Vocal grade: B

Vocal positives:
Bruno Mars, being a tenor, has the ability to belt out notes in the 4th and 5th octave(See Locked out of Heaven) without showing signs of fatigue. He uses healthy technique and does not struggle as much when reaching to a note like F5 unlike other male singers.

Vocal negatives:
His belts have a strange way of sounding flat and his belting range is not showcased much live. His notes get weaker quickly as it ascends from F5 onwards.

Evaluating Nicki Minaj

Lowest note: C#3
Highest belt:  Eb5
Highest note: Bb5
Exclamation: C#6
Vocal range: 2 octaves 5 notes
Vocal grade: C

Vocal strengths:
She is a rapper, but she is a mezzo-soprano that can carry a basic tune. Her husky voice allows for a unique timbre and ability to harmonize pleasantly at notes as low as D3. She,  She has seen to be able to hold notes for an extended period of time.

Vocal weaknesses:
Her chest voice is very thin and becomes weaker after D5. Her upper belts are a struggle for her and she chooses to depend on layered tracks to aid her.

                                                  Nicki Minaj Vocal Range C#3-C#6

Evaluating Michael Jackson

Lowest note: F#2(forced F2)
Highest belt:  Bb5
Highest note: C#6
Exclamation:  F#6
Vocal range: 3 octaves 4 notes
Vocal grade: A*

Vocal positives:
Armed with a wild chest register that tops at Bb5, he has a startling ability to utilise his rich head voice to allow his belts to maintain its startling resonance. His mid-register(Eb4-F#5) appeals to a lot of people because that is where his strongest belts lie. His voice is able to transcend through genres which include Pop, Rock, Ballads and Jazz. Impressive breath control in live settings has allowed him to hold notes as high as G5 live without showing fatigue. He has also shown an ability to sing arpeggios and even do a vocal fry of F1, although it does not count as part of his range.

Vocal negatives:
He has a childish timbre instead of a timbre that an adult singer should rightfully have.
